A big thank you to Lauren Harvey in Australia for the donation of a batch of books in braille. This means that our blind child, Daniel, can now read books and take them home just like any other child from Paleng. This is so exciting for him! He is an amazing fluent reader in English. Here he is sitting with his big sister reading the new books, and taking his own book home in his book bag.
These are our first published little books going home in book bags! Our children can't believe their drawings are in little books that they can take home!
We have published our first two little books, 'Sun, Moon, Rain and Wind' and 'M'e Maneo's Pumpkin'. We hope to raise funds through selling them as affordably as possible locally. They are bilingual English and Sesotho, so we hope they will have wide appeal. 'Sun, Moon, Rain and Wind' is a story by Khothatso, and is illustrated by our Paleng children. We are very proud, and today we sold 6 of them in our little library to our lovely American visitors Angela and Jennifer. This means they will be read by children in America! And our wonderful English angel Julia had her cousin's child read it in England. We are international! Thank you to Lydia for her lovely book designs, and to Mario our printer, for helping us make them real!
